Did you know that the Jaguar is the greatest meat-eating animal in the world?
It also belongs to the cat family, it’s closest cousin is the leopard.
Leopards and jaguars are both spotted. The male jaguar weighs up to 120 pounds to 200 pounds. The female jaguar average weight is 80 pounds to 100 pounds. Jaguars have black spots.
Their favorite place is a dark, damp tropical forest. Jaguars used to live in small numbers in Arizona and they have been found in the mountains.
Jaguars communicate by roaring. Jaguars are fast when they need to be. They normally walk but sometimes they run. Jaguars move slowly when they’re about to attack. Jaguars hunt by ambushing are stalking. most jaguars hunt at night. They hunt on the ground and they creep.
Jaguars climb trees to eat sloths or they jump into water for fish. Jaguars jaws are the most powerful jaws in the world. Jaguars kill large animals.
Jaguar’s babies are called cubs. They are born from their mother. They grow up on meat that their mother brings to them and drink their mother’s milk. Jaguars cubs are born in a den. they trail behind their mother when they are six weeks old. Jaguar babies are mostly born in the summer and sometimes at other times. Mother jaguars usually give birth to one to four cubs. Jaguars can live into their early twenties, but they follow their mother for the first two years of their lives .
Jaguars are endangered because their forest is being burned down. Their habitat is getting smaller, their food supply is getting smaller, and farmers and poachers are killing them. Jaguars are dying quickly.
